How to convert drums to disks
I did this and i LOVE IT, worth every penny.

Also i suggest you use the search, for not just this but other questions you have. 80% of the questions you have or will have, have already been answered in a previous thread.
The power of the search function(typed in +disk +drum +conversion)

I would recommend going to a junkyard and finding a 6th gen GT and taking all the parts off of that. Then later on you can upgrade to slotted rotors or w.e. youd like.

edit: Also while your there snag the front strut bar in the engine bay.

When I did my conversion (what, like 2 years ago now?) I followed the how-to and it worked out perfectly. Still very happy with the conversion.

How can you paint the calipers yourself? Do you have to sand them down? What paint do you use?

There's high temp paint and caliper paint you can get at Pep Boys or O'Rielly. As for sanding, I'm not quite sure.

I would definitely clean them as best you can. I don't know the name of the paint off the top of my head but if you go to Pep Boys or O'Rielly or NAPA and ask them about high temp paint or caliper paint, they'll know what you want.

the high temp paint dries really fast, i put about 3 to 4 coats on each caliper and it only took me about 2 to 3 hours to do. It came out amazing.
I do have to say, you don't need to sand it down. You WILL have to wire brush it, then wipe it clean.
Put 2 coats of primer (so that it covers over any brake dust marks) and then put about 3 to 4 coats of the high temp paint.
There is no need to clear coat it at all. You can also paint the pads so that it matches the calipers.

I actually think it looks cool when the pads don't match the calipers tongue.gif
