The damn snow finally melted so that I could get Biggs to take me down to Jefferson City and pick up my AE92.
For Five Ben's she's a beauty.

Maybe needs a headgasket, stock wheels have a couple of nasty dents in them, there are some big rust holes up under the side skirts, dash is wasted, there's a ****ty muffler on it, and some Freaking retard siliconed the sunroof shut.
And that one dent behind the driver door is the Only dent I've found. Doesn't even have door dings.

But overall I feel real good about it.

The guy actually had an AE86 up under a tarp next to it and he decided that he didn't need two project cars, especially since he couldn't get this one to run right away.
He said everybody else on CL was trying to offer him $100. Pft.
I know they were waiting for Jan 2 to buy it so they wouldn't have to pay the property tax. Which is why I jumped on it now. It's gonna be a measly $50
Your loss suckers.

Pssssh, for $500 can't really go too wrong. Hopefully it's not too difficult to get sorted and running again.

Isuzu Impulse is a neat car, especially the highest turbo charged trim.

Yup, sadly only the '90-91 were turbocharged and '92-93 went to a larger naturally aspirated engine. Of course I'm weird and like cars like the first gen Saturn SC2, Mazda MX-3, Nissan NX2000, and second gen Toyota Paseo as well.

I was kinda disappointed that they are 4 lug. I thought i could get some racing wheels and summer tires that would fit this And the Celica.

IDK how they would work out with adapters.
Now I have to wonder, i thought i was getting a DD so i could work on the Celica, but ill probably do better taking the Corolla to the autocross.
As I watch and wait for a good st205 clip...

4A-GZE conversion!

As far as the wheel disparity you might be able to convert hubs on the Corolla to make it 5x100, or you should be able to find one of those multi-pattern rims that has 4x100 and 5x100 to make life easy. If it were me I'd go multi-pattern rims before I used bolt pattern adapters.

It's a shame the AE92 gets overlooked, but then again so does the Celica and a lot of cars. There are times I think about how much cheaper my automotive life would be had I bought one of said cars, but damnit I wanted a V8 backed by a manual and for some reason no car with that is overlooked. Not that they're overlooked but I have been thinking about a NB Miata lately, which I guess is to be expected since it was my second choice had I not found a manual Firebird or T/A within reasonable time.

Well, just get one of those too. smile.gif
Then you can have something to drive while working on the other one.

It'd have to be for a dedicated track car or only(fun) car for me to really go for it, which at that rate I'd rant to perform the Roadster Coupe conversion cause might as well at that point. With the Firebird though a stock NB in terms of the drivetrain would suffice, maybe a stage I turbo or supercharger kit but I wouldn't be dying to V8 swap it because I have the Firebird for that. Also like Vav mentioned not going crazy one could be down for a weekend or two to do a more in depth bolt-on affair while still having the other drive and rotate as seen fit.

Replaced the Porsche battery, but it still won't start. Think it's the ignition switch or a wiring issue. Already ordered a switch so I'll replace that and I'm going to deconstruct the interior and look at the wiring.

So the original dash pad crumbled as I removed it from the car, then it crumbled as I laid it down. Then I got mad and then it really crumbled as I shoved it into the trash can. I swear if I ever see the moron that decided on making it out of PC and not PP like the rest of the interiour I'll shove them into a trash can too. My ****ing god, and of course the replacement isn't really working out though it helped form a better idea of what needs done. This close to saying forget it because racecar/weight reduction yo and call it a ****ing day.

I can beat that box. Disassembled the Porsche interior, guess what I found? Rust! And a lot of it. Car pretty much needs all new floor pans and more. I honestly don't know what to do, sell it, keep it and rust proof to the best of my ability and drive it until I can afford a full restoration or just go balls deep now.

Go halfsies on a punching bag and take out our frustration? Is the rust eaten through or is it still at the point you could take a shop vac and wire brush to clean it all up and then hit it with rust converter and sealer?

On a positive note FedEx should be delivering the Hella lamps tomorrow.

I have holes in my floor kindasad.gif I'm not mad or anything just kinda sad. I really loved the 914 but now I'm not sure what to do with it.

That's understandable, it doesn't matter what old car it is or if it's never seen a salted road it's entire life they did such a piss poor job of protecting the metal back then just humidity in the atmosphere and rain will cause rust. If it's just pinholes to dime sized holes you could clean up and save what's there to hold you over, otherwise I dunno what to tell you since I doubt there are repop pans like there are for some of the more popular domestics of the same time. Really it comes down to how much you love it and how much time and money you want to spend I suppose.
