so what I thought was a blown off coupler may be something more serious as I just tightened them all up but it still doesn't boost. the boost gauge at idle reads like -20 something PSI which is what it read when the car was NA, it read something like -5 or so when the turbo was working. so what else could cause it to run like it's NA? did I just completely flood the turbo with oil and cause it to seize? what other things should I be looking for?

pull off your intake piping, and check the turbo.

*sigh*

but I did pay enough (over $150 after the wastegate actuator, block off plate, and all the gaskets)... it just still sucked afterwards! if you can tell me any place that I can buy a rebuilt turbo, that would be great...

second... I almost got rid of it and got a different one, but I decided to make this one work... bad decision however, so now my next one will be my 3rd. yeah

which reminds me, Ngofkucingway, did you ever get ahold of Negative?

so I went out today and tried to spin the wheel with my finger with the car off, it spun but there was some resistence to it. then I started the car and looked at it and at idle it was spinning but it was pretty slow and it seemed like it could spin for like 3/4 of it's rotation fine and the last 1/4 of each rotation it looked like it had some kind of resistence and it slowed a bit... it's kinda hard to explain. but when I revved the car a little it started spinning pretty fast though perhaps not fast enough?

if the turbo can still spin does that mean it should still be able to make boost? indicating something else is wrong. or is it definately the turbo that's causing it not to boost?

I'm still looking for rebuilt or good condition one. there doesn't seem to be many on mr2oc.com or alltrac.net like there usually is. though I see alot of WTB threads for them...

Looks like u got a lot shaft play. I think it still has possibility to create boost, but the shaft play will dramatically cut back on how much it will create.

no. I drove it this morning, I made no boost. under full throttle the boost gauge goes to 0, which is where it went when I was NA. also, at idle, the boost gauge is at -10, which is where it was NA too. under high throttle, I can't hear the turbo spooling like I could before.

It didn't make any smoke today either. I dunno why, maybe just cause the turbo doesn't work it doesn't have any oil flowing through it for it to burn. Would I be hurting anything driving it like this?

I'm still looking for another turbo, I really can't find any good ones, and I don't even know if this one can be rebuilt.

how easily is the wheel supposed to spin when you spin it with your finger?

#1 the your shaft is bent causing the abnormal wheel spin
#2 what you are describing is exactly what its like when you blow a coupler
#3 check all your vac hoses too including the one(s) for the wastegate

I just sent a payment for a JDM ceramic turbo. only about 35K miles on it. If I put it on and it still doesn't work, I'd think maybe a stuck open wastegate or maybe I did blow off a coupler. yesterday I checked all my vacuum hoses, and they were fine.

hook a bike pump up to the wastegate and see if it opens

I'm waiting on a turbo now. it's a JDM ceramic turbo. should have shipped today or tomorrow.

also, I have an interview tomorrow at America's Tire Co. so I'm pretty excited. I couldn't think of anything better than getting paid to work on cars smile.gif

same thing as a regular CT-26 but the shaft or compressor wheel is ceramic (or both?) which is lighter, so it spools faster. and it came on JDM 3sgte's.

or at least I think that's what it is. somebody please correct me if I'm wrong.

the EXHAUST wheel is ceramic.
diffrence in spool is negligable.
