After spending some time sitting in my empty garage really really thinking about this, i'd like to TRY and find a tranny for my car because as silly as it sounds i really miss it. I'm lucky enough to have the jeep to drive but I'd really rather not drive it everyday esp. with the gas prices so high.

so- I need to figure out wtf is wrong. or just get a new transmission. what do you guys think?

Update: My cousin is bringing my car over to a transmission shop where he knows someone. So by Friday I should know what's wrong.

I just called you, no answer....

the junkyard by my job [the one that has the 7th gen wheels] probably has some good low mileage trannys. I wanted to talk to you about how much you were willing to spend on it, I have the day off tomorrow and I'll go over and see how much he wants for one. I can bring it down whenever we help put it in.

call me

Hey steff I know I was on the phone when you called I'm sorry.

I don't want to get anything yet. The car is going to a guy who specializes in transmission repair. So once i find out exactly what's wrong I'll know if it's worth fixing or getting a new one. I don't want to make everyone go all crazy looking for something I may not need.

I got your message I couldn't answer at work.

In all honesty I have no idea what's going on. Right now I am borrowing cars from my parents because i have NO idea when I will get my car back and my Jeep broke down again. I haven't heard from my cousin so I don't even know what the status of my car is. There really isn't anything I can do right now because the car is already at the tranny shop I'd have to go there and attempt to drive my car home 30 min with the axle moving up and down. So all there is to do right now is wait. Believe me I've done my fair share of crying and stressing over this. I prob will get my car back just in time to put it away for the winter. Or not depending on what's wrong with the Jeep.

The other problem is I'm not about to make everyone come up here to do work on my car again. My garage is tiny and I don't have the tools for this. I also don't want to get another tranny if the one I have can be fixed.

you made it the 3-4 hours home from here. I'm sure if you give it some more tranny fluid it'll make it home... or to Erik's house

a straight tranny replacement is easy, Manny and Jeff have taken the trip to do it for Shannon and me and Dustin have made a trip for Jesse, there's no reason why it would be any inconvenience to do it for you

I know it wouldn't be hard for you guys but I really would hate for everyone to drive up to us just for this.

yes, thanks.

Update 9/5/07 My cousin just called. The transmission shop said that they can fix the transmission. They said the transmission's bearings are shot. It needs to be rebuilt and it will be $1,000.00. Right now I can't afford this so I don't know what to do. My parents flipped and will not let me put another used transmission in my car. As of right now i am arranging to have my car towed back to my house. I don't know what I'm going to do. I am so unhappy right now i can't even explain it. I absolutely at this point regret swapping, if i didn't swap I'd still have my car. The only thing I can think of is starting to sell things like the sides and spillters. I really don't want to do that. I don't know i'm just so upset and emotional over this it's ridiculous

Tina I can get a low mileage tranny for a good price. All I need is a few hours to swap it, Stef and I will have a solution for you very soon. Don't worry, this will be fixed.

Dustin- Steff already told me about the junk yard and how much. That's not the problem. My parent's are not allowing me to put another used transmission in the car. They said to tow it and let it sit until i can afford to fix it. I have money put away but it's for my sister's bridal shower i have to pay for which will end up being over $1,000.00.

My car is in my parent's name because I'm 22 and my insurance would be very expensive. So legally it is their car and they are letting me know that right now.

It's a lot of **** i'm dealing with right now also considering my other car is in a shop and i'm waiting to see how much that's going to cost.

Update 2:

I called my cousin and told him I could not afford to do the rebuild. He said that he will go tomorrow to pick up my car.

I won't be able to pick my car up tomorrow but most likely friday night. I'll have my b/f follow me home to make sure nothing happens. I'm not too thrilled with the idea of driving my car on the highway like this but there isn't anything I can do about that.

I still have to get a price on towing.

I would have to argue against the whole rebuild being more reliable than a used transmission.

The car's owner is whoever is on the Title, not insurance.

Everyone whose modified their cars have regretted it at some point when things go wrong. I regretted doing the E153 for a long time before I got the right axles and shifter cables. It's still not perfect but I don't regret it anymore.

I think her point is that Her parents own the car, and she is under their insurance...therefor what they say goes.

if she went and did something against their wishes, she comes off the insurance and has to pay for her own...more expensive..

My Mother is on the title and the insurance. So I legally don't own the car. Obviously the car is mine but again the fact that I am not on the title is dangling over my head.

Dan is right.

The other thing is my car stays in the garage for the winter usually Nov/Dec till March/April So I could just suck it up and put the car away put the money away and in April get the trans. rebuilt.

This all depends on what the status of the Jeep is. I hope to get that car back by friday but i doubt it.

OR

you will see a major for sale/trade thread with my projectors and body parts for the car.
