Ok, I feel like most on this site that the 6gc needs more recognition in the Import Tuner scene. I just sent out a letter via email to Super Street, Modified, and Import Tuner asking them why they never feature 6th gens in their mags. I think if there were 6th gens featured then it would be interesting reading and Like most Im sick of seeing a broke back Honda or Nissan featured and not the Black Pearl of Toyota.

Im very interested in hearing your opinions on this topic. And if you would like to submit a letter yourself to these mags on the same issue. Here are there email adds:

mailsack@superstreetonline.com
feedback@modified.com
postal@importuner.com

Please respond.

ya ya I definately know what you mean. Sick of hondas !!

I was thinking a guy like urbandork who has a complete gt-four conversion but without the awd ane rhd. I met him at a meet a few weeks ago. He has it running well except he just needs new paint job. I would like to see his car featured in any magazine like that.

Not necessarily sick of any particular car or manufacturer, I am more sick that there is no variety of cars. Option 2 has a real variety that I would like to see in the US mags. They feature 2 doors, 4 doors, light class cars, and minivans, and they range from old to modern cars.

I agree that there needs to be more variety. I think the reason that Toyotas are never featured is because Toyota isn't really doing much for the sports car world anymore, while Honda continues cranking out Civic Si's. Honda is more performance-oriented than Toyota is. But that doesn't really mean anything, since they are featured older Hondas too. The Celica is a much more uncommon car than a Civic, and is harder and more expensive for someone to get their hands on than an average Civic, so there are quite a few more Civics out there that people are working with and getting them featured in magazines. I think if some of the peple on here with the nicer Celicas (i.e. the featured rides, etc.) tried, they could get their cars featured too. And I say go for it!

The world is changing, people don't see Toyotas as high performance sports car, or even consider Fast cars anymore. When you mention Toyota all you can relate to is granny, reliability, gas saver, FJ CRUISER!!! and, or a Truck. Even the word SUPRA has its own meaning in class and if you didn't know what it was you thought it was made by some fast sports car automaker. The 6gen is a really unique car, but it just doesn't compete in terms of aftermarket support.

When cars are shown in Magzines they are really advertising the aftermarket parts, products and name behind the car itself. If a major magazine was to show off a 6Gen they would have nothing to relate too nor any major brands to show off and advertise on.

Well its great to try and get our cars in magzines, but without some $$$$ backing us up and bribing a few upper personals. Its a very tough road but doing something is better than nothing right?

you got a point there soulshadow. If i were to even get my car sponsored by somee magazine here, it would mostly be as you said for advertising aftermarket parts and so forth. But if i do go forward with my swap. WHICH IM SO EAGER TO DO. I'll try to get it in a magazine. Ya hondas are so overated. ya they fast and all but there's just to many people with them, who think they are the $@*%. one day maybe, just one day....

there are many things you can do to the celica but MONEY is the issue. it costs a lot to buy the parts you want. the majority of the parts are more on the rare side but it's not like there's only a few options. you've got the wheels, bodykits, lipkits, jdm headlights, jdm taillights/after burners, engine swaps, etc etc.

also, this same question was asked last year in a car magazine. if you search around here, you'll find it smile.gif
