As some of you my know, I have been wanting a 5-speed for a long time.. since I got rid of my old 5-speed Mustang GT and got an automatic Celica GT. Well, yesterday I went to Iowa and picked up a 1994 Celica GT 5-speed. One that you may recognize as navseal345's Celica. (he was awesome and met me half way so I didn't have to go all the way to Nebraska.) ANYWAY, here is the beginning of this build, and the end of the old build. farewell Blue Celica, you were good to me and we had some good times.
when I first got the car: Already had MEGAN coilovers, and a flowmaster muffler After all day today of swapping my stuff from the Blue Celica to the Silver one. swapped out the wheels for my plasti-dipped stock GT wheels JDM-Tails 3-post steering wheel & Celica floor mats (not really seen in the pic) Sony explode head unit and black shift knob stock cargo bay cover 10 inch Kicker CVR subs and GT-4 rear strut brace gotta have the fire extinguisher had to swap over my sun visors.. just because swapped over the INJEN intake and reran the sub power wire. here's some more random pics of the car i took. (the fun will really start when my blue Celica is sold ) This post has been edited by Zake: Aug 19, 2012 - 12:01 AM -------------------- |

I was going to wait till the midwest meet to reveal what I have been working on. but I'm not the type that's able to keep so much awesomeness contained for that long.
Thanks to Kaos, I now have a short throw shifter I then bought a sparco shift knob. (I LOVE THIS SHIFT KNOB) I then hacked off about another 1.5-2 inches off the top of the shifter and put the knob on. NOW it's awesome I'll take some more pics when my new shift boot comes in. I bought my GT-4 bumper back from Daniel and Brigette. Then I got a SS-III spoiler off ebay Then I got a bright red hood off of ebay, it wasnt in bad shape! BUT after driving a few days with a bright red hood, having everyone and there mother staring at me when I drove by, I decided to paint it today. It took 8.5 hours, 80% of that was sanding, filling, and sanding. this is when i started to sand to fill in some dings the little vent/scoop things were set aside for later started filling fully sanded 3 coats of primer later and.. I couldn't resist spraying that on the plastic sanded the primer down to get it ready for the paint me and the first coat of paint 4 coats later not bad for getting my "how to" info from youtube as she sits drying for the rest of the weekend. and no, the hood isn't closed all the way, as I cannot touch the hood to press it down next weekend after letting the hood dry all week, I'm going to sand it and polish it. the color of the hood will also be the color of the car eventually. I figure I'll do the car bit by bit. (one weekend will be front bumper, next will be fenders, then doors, then rear bumper and spoiler, then hatch, then the rest) If I had a sprayer, and a good area to work on it, I'd do the whole thing all at once, but seeing as I'm using a rattle can with limited time since my final semester will be starting in a week.. (not looking forward to going back..) ANYHOO.. more fun stuff should be coming in the next couple of weeks (shipped and on the way. but sometimes takes forever) -------------------- |

Not to be pedantic, but why didn't you spray it silver the first time 'round? DIY painting FTW though.

Not to be pedantic, but why didn't you spray it silver the first time 'round? DIY painting FTW though. i wanted to prime where i put filler, and where i sanded scratches out where it went down to the aluminum. (originally had filler there but...) so by the time i was ready to throw the primer i saw that the hood was going to be mostly covered anyway. so i just did the whole thing. 2nd reason was i wasnt sure if i was going to be able to paint it the same day or have to wait till next friday. and i didnt want to be driving with, not only a multi-color car, but a multi-color hood oh, this is the first time i have ever seen anyone use the word "pedantic" other than family guy This post has been edited by Zake: Aug 19, 2012 - 10:46 AM -------------------- |

It's a Midwest Trend! I show up with two tone, now I've been shown up with your tri-tone! I'm really gonna have to step my game up.
