Just perusing eBay and the like the base models and Esprits really aren't worth anything, even Formulas don't touch Trans Am prices. I don't get it, it's not like the Trans Am in general was anything super rare or special. There were over 100,000 Trans Ams alone in 1979 and everything that made it a Trans Am can be added or superseded easily. Sure the special editions, anniversary cars, and pace cars are special, but a run of the mill Trans Am in sorry shape sells for what I paid for my running and driving base bird in decent shape. I just don't understand why a number and a letter on an easily changed VIN tag matters so much.

Have been thinking a 924/944, but the $600 clutch makes me pass out and then I forget what I'm looking for.

I still want a 280Z or another Supra, but I haven't seen either in eons.

I just can't be happy with a car, I do know I want a manual though. I can't put into words my hate for automatics.

Pssh who cares about value. Id honestly rather have a base model so I could mod it how I see fit. If you enjoy in then who cares what the value is?

You need to find one and be happy with it. No car is perfect. Find out what you really want and get that, and make it what you want.

Here ya go,

its an AMG 63i Bi-Turbo
Automatic Lumbar support in the seat. As I came around the turn down into the garage it sensed the lateral acceleration as I turned left and the lower back of the right side of the seat swelled up to hold me in place.
I'm gonna get one of these just to rip the seats out and put them in the Celica.

Mmm amg mercs.... If I ever get rich I'm buying one. Anyway today I started buying brake parts for the 914. It'll take me awhile to get them all as they are quite expensive.

Or this one just rolled into my buddies shop.
It's actually a 73 with a 72 bumper.

or check out the Beetle

Face it Box, you're just going to have to start your own custom shop because the only way you're going to be happy is to do it yourself.
didn't I show you the TA with the Studabaker nose?

Part of my problem is that I like all kinds of cars, life would be considerably easier if I were a biased fanboy. Thing is there's all kinds of cars I want to try and the only way to really do that is own one for a little while and sell it for another. Though if I could find one I really liked I'd keep it.

I love the rear on the '70-73 Camaro, and I like old Beetles too. Yes you showed the Studebird. tongue.gif

Speaking of Firebird, went to do valve covers and what should've been a 10-20 minute job at most turned into an all day ordeal. The previous idiot decided that using silicone all over CORK gaskets was a good idea, and if that wasn't enough they were tightened down as far as they'd go... Which everything is indeed brand new inside, but it looks like O.E. spec parts for the most part. It has stamped rockers, but I guess as long as the springs can hold up it'll be ok. Then again I never rev it out, so it'll be fine for as long as I own it anyway.

What I should do is buy something halfway feasible, believe it or not 12 mpg on 93 kind of gets old after awhile. I want something RWD with a manual though, and it has to be a coupe or liftback. Not really many options out there beyond the F-body, 280ZX, 240SX, MR2, Supra, and Corvette. Sure there are cars from BMW and Porsche, but I'm just not sure about the Euro car deal and especially parts pricing for Porsche kills things for them. Mustang is a no go thanks to the clutch weight, and I might consider a NA8 or NB Miata but I'd have to get one with the hardtop. There's also the third gen Celica I suppose. Only other cars would be a RX-7 but rotary reliability is kind of hit and miss, and the 300ZX which is a royal pain to do anything in the engine bay and it needs timing services kept up religiously. That pretty much covers every car out there that'd fit the bill.

Washed up the DD Mazda and found some rear wheel well rust on one side I need to get taken care of before next winter! I can't let that go, it'll spread into the body and then it's a lost cause. Always scrub out the wheel wells and backs of the arches when you wash in the spring, just spraying the hose in there isn't good enough!

NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!! This is why you do lots of burnouts in the summer so the wells are covered in rubber for the rest of the year.

It's pretty minor right now, just under the paint and not through any metal, no holes or anything. It should be a simple grind out and paint, I'll ask about them slathering it up with some chip coat or something to protect it better.
