There's nothing to ziptie and duct tape to on this one. There's M6 U nut clip clipped to the bumper and one looks like it has the bolt missing or snapped off. I need to remove or snap off the lower one and then replace both U nuts with fresh bolts and nuts and that should get it pulled back into place and secured! I'm always worried she's going to snag a leg on it and rip the bumper off or send herself to the floor (she's tall and bony so falling down hurts more).

There's no telling with old cars, unless it corroded away maybe the bumper was removed once and the bolt was lost. Falling down never feels good, especially onto hard surfaces.

There's no bolt head, there's a normal sized hole in the fender, and the clip LOOKS like it's got a bolt shank in it. It maybe was snapped off or maybe it rusted off.

Hmmmm, if you have my luck it's a bolt with the head snapped off. Sorta like I went to order that tape after eating and during dinner it apparently went from being a Prime item to an add-on item... The other option was: https://www.amazon.com/Thermoweb-Super-Doub...uct_top?ie=UTF8
Though from the sounds of it once it's pressed down in place it's not coming back off, a little too permanent if that's the case.

Went ahead and ordered the tape above, $2.99 shipped and will get here Wednesday so why not. Will just have to test it out first before using it, plus if the tape works out well it could help with some custom interior lighting.

I was right on the Escort, clutch rod had backed all the way out so had him tighten it back and use thread lock on it this time and it's engaging as it should. Also did some searching and apparently as I suspected the shifter bushings end up cracking and falling out over time since they're apparently brittle plastic from the factory. Found a nylon bushing replacement kit for $9 shipped: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ford-Escort-Nylon-...Bhh&vxp=mtr
In my researching I noticed the Escort, Probe, MX-3, MX-6, and any of those FWD Ford/Mazda love childs had a similar shifter assembly and use the same bushings, so I'm willing to bet it's the same case with your aunt's Capri.

It's quite possible! What does the shift linkage look like? Hers uses a or a pair of solid rods, it's been a while since I looked at it. If it IS the same then that's high on the list of things to fix!

I found this thread, if the parts change over the hell yea!

I guess this is one of those times it's a good thing the same thing was rehashed a million times since solutions are cheap and readily available. It's terrible though as I can literally sit there and stir the shifter in a circle without getting into any of the gears, when it's in 1-2 or 5-R the lever goes back to center like it's in neutral but it's actually in gear and it rattles going down the road if your hand isn't on the knob holding it over in place. Told him to order that kit since it's started bothering him, plus nylon should be better than the O.E. plastic in terms of durability, feel, and NVH.

Yea, I told her to grab the NAPA parts listed in that thread since they're a confirmed fit. I'll have to do that job at work though as I need to get under the car and may need to heat stuff up to get it free. I can do the top two at home maybe though.

Now find the little rubber red strips that go across the front and rear bumpers that have buckled, broke, and turned black over the years! I REALLY want to replace hers as it'll make the car look 100% better. I'll even eat the cost on them if they're not ludicrous, it bugs me so badly.

From what I saw online some cars the exhaust and/or heat shield is in the way, on others you can get to them without taking things off. Hopefully it's just heat shields at most that need removed.

Couldn't really find much that except in 1994 they went from grey and red to body coloured. Maybe some kind of self adhering universal red rubber trim would work?

It sits in a channel, so it's not a stick on thing. It's become stained black/gray over time and nothing I've tried lifts the stain out of it and it's hard as glass and just about as brittle. It's kind of shaped like a C on top with an arrow shape that snaps into a groove. I registered on that team capri forum so when I can post I'll ask. I bet there IS a universal product that's the same, I just don't know what to look for. Probably for boats....or some other car.

Could always facelift it to the '94 style, kind of freshen it up some:

Awww, oh well. Also I realized the Capri reminds me of the first Eclipse/Talon/Laser.

I guess you could if you liked seeing it parked because it's broken and won't start.

You'd need to keep a good stock of replacement electrical smoke though....
