I'm a by the numbers kind of person, always have been. I know that's not everything, but it's something you can go off since it's factual information and not subjective opinion. I do know I like small and light cars, and that I like RWD. Woo, nice paint! Then you'll never be happy because you'll br too worried about all the numbers and what not. Life is too short to care about who has the most hp, or whatever. Just buy whatever the hell you want. -------------------- |

I care about handling and how the car feels, and how much a car weighs and how big it is is directly proportional to that. Numbers are just a tool for me, they don't matter beyond that. I really like the NB2, but now with my brother having one I don't know. I don't know about anything anymore, you'd think something simple like inanimate hunks of metal, plastic, and rubber would be easy. Never mind the complicated things like who you are and what you want to be or who you want to be with, and seemingly all at once. I know those are things everyone goes through to an extent, but it's more complicated for some than others. So on top of all of that trite car **** becomes more complicated as well. Get one life, doing such a wonderful job of living it... If it's not fibro dictating my life it's indecision or fear, and I'm tired of it... Should probably talk with the one friend I have left, it's been a long time overdue...

Couldn't sleep, too busy thinking about ****. Seems like no matter how much I think about things I end up no closer than where I was in the beginning. Will see if my friend can talk at some point to help sort things...
On the upside I did some digging and found where CUSCO has picked up the slack somewhat for the MR-S, they make one set of coil-overs for it and it seems like their mid level offering, a set of sway bars, and some chassis braces. So that's nice and would kind of negate the lack of support since what support is there would be my preference anyway. Of course CUSCO also makes even more for the Miata. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

I don't know why, but removing tree sap from the Miata is really therapeutic. Dried up tree sap on a canvas top, so fun to try and remove without damaging the top. So far have used hot water with Dawn, Meguiar's Top Cleaner, and just now used some IBIZ spot remover that says it'll take off tar, bugs, and tree sap. Outside of that I don't know what else to try since everyone else suggests things like lighter fluid, Goof Off, WD-40, etc... that I'd imagine would stain or damage the canvas.

Is the sap soft or hard? If soft freeze it and pop it off, if hard flex the top and pop it off then use goo-gone or similar to remove the remains and then treat the area with top conditioning products. Probably need to wash the whole thing and treat the whole thing. You might have luck with a steam cleaner to blast the sap and get hot steam under and around it to loosen it if it's really stuck on hard.

Dried out, gummy, and crusty. The biggest issue is it was down into the weave of the canvas. I think the IBIZ spot remover may've finally got it, but it ended up raining for a bit so the top is all wet and it's hard to tell even with a light. Will be able to better tell tomorrow once it's dry and daylight. Speaking of top conditioner apparently Meguiar's makes one, but it's only available in the UK? Thinking Aerospace 303 protectant then.

WAX ALL THE THINGS.
So the more I look into the MR-S the more I like it, would just have to test it to see how it feels compared to the NB2 Miata. Which the only problem with it is apparently the pre-cats would break up and then the engine would suck in the debris gouging the cylinder walls turning it into the world's biggest oil burner. So I guess a compression check and looking down the O2 ports into the pre-cats would be in order for any of those. -------------------- 2001 Miata LS 5-speed

Correct, and then a set of de-cat headers, the main cat gets plenty clean for passing tailpipe emissions if that's any worry.

Emissions testing is a non issue here, my concern would be nauseous exhaust fumes and it sounding like arse. Though the primary cat should be sufficient for the first at least if it'll still pass testing. I wouldn't think removing the pre-cats would make that huge a difference in sound, header itself maybe more so. That's ok, guess will have to find one remotely nearby to check out.

Tonight I swapped all of my lights in the 4Runner to LED’s. LED ALL THE THINGS!
![]() ![]() ![]() Also, I haven’t posted this, but I actually hate this 4Runner. Emissions are an issue here. The ‘16 is exempt until 2023, which is why you’ll notice it’s the only one of the three cars with a Colorado plate. Finding a clean enough 4th gen Limited V8 with XREAS and comparable options to our old one has proved to be too much of an issue to trade back down anyway.

Just move to Alabama where emissions or any kind of inspection is nonexistent, just hand them money for your tag once a year and they don't care what you do with the car. But if you hate the '16 and love the '06 wouldn't that technically be trading up though?

MN works too! I don't remember ever having to go to test for emissions at all owning all my previous cars. Especially my 20v ST Wagon w/ 2 in straight pipe and the 1mz 6gc right now.

Parts of Ohio have emission testing which sucks but it's nice registering my cars that won't pass at a friends house.

XREAS or KDSS would eliminate about half of my complaints. Since yours is a Limited, it should have XREAS. I also hate the programming for the trans and the poor build quality compared to the 4th gen. But I have to give credit where credit is due, this thing performed just as well off road as it performs poorly on the road.
No emissions back in Illinois or Indiana either. I could even get away with an ST205 pretty easily. We were planning to move to a part of Colrado with no emissions but we’ve ended up liking the Denver area, of course the one part of the state with emissions. The Supra will pass emissions if I put the stock exhaust back on and the Celica should pass as is. Since the 4Runner is exempt, we just paid the registration costs and moved on. We’ll do the other cars when their Indiana registration expires. -------------------- "Employ your time in improving yourself by other men's writings, so that you shall gain easily what others labored hard for." -Socrates.
