Okay so my friend is a mr2 whack, and has just sold a mkII 91. He kept the turbo.

I was wanting to buy a blacktop, but i can get the turbo for $100 with the wastegate.

I'm seriously considering this. I just want to know would there be to much turbo lag?? (stock turbo off a 3sgte) A friend owes me a favor so I can get an intercooler and piping for free.

I know I need the following:
Turbo
Wastegate
Intercooler
Piping
Tapped Oilpan
Injecters
Fuel pump
Turbo manifold
ECU
Custom exhaust work

I feel as if i'm forgetting something so if i am let me know.

My question is would stock psi (7psi) be safe fore my 7afe. It has less than 65,000 miles on it.
I can get all of this done and tuned for less than $1200 b/c of the deals i've ran across and plan on installing it myself.
Any help you may have is appreciated. I'm not looking for anything pretty under the hood, just something reliable and fun.

I don't really want A LOT of power, maybe 140-180 at most at the flywheel. Just something thats a fun DD.

some guys have done this on a 4age, a CT-26 on a 1.8 is laggy, you'd think that given an increase on displacement over a 1.6 ( 4as ) yours would spool a little faster, but the 7a red line is too soon compare to 4ag motors, so by the time you get full boost is time to shift, put your money and efforts else where, or get a more suited turbo for the 7a.

Sorry. Just text my friend, it wasn't the stock turbo, they upgraded than sold the car, than the guy who had it swapped it again. it's a little smaller than a CT-26.

I'll try and find out what size it is soon, I know it is factory though, but i know now it didn't come on a 3sgte.

Anyways, i'm not looking for something to take to the track or race every day, just something that is fun to drive, ya kno? like i said i'm not looking to have that much power.

But thanks for the answers. If it really isn't worth it, (got everything quoted today done right, is a little under $900 and money is kinda tight around here right now.) than i'll look into a different turbo.

Yes, 7psi on a 7A daily driven will be reliable. But, as they said already, you're going to need a small turbo to make it fun enough to get you from stop light to stop light really quick. The 7A will never make the car fast, but if you do the research you can make it fun and pretty quick.

Your HP goals are very realistic with the right setup. Just make sure you understand why you need everything and what it all does in the setup so you can decide what will be best for your setup.

My advise for people wanting to turbo their 7A is be prepared to spend more money than you anticipated and whatever you do, do not go cheap on anything. Its fine if you can get the right parts for cheap, just make sure they are quality parts.

Martin posted some good links, read through those there is good info in the. You can also check out my turbo project thread for some info: http://www.6gc.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=52444&hl
