Well, finally, I got something I've been wanted for some time now:

I'll have better pics at a later date, but this will do for now:

Springfield XD-9 Service Model
IPB Image

9mm, autoloading, semi-automatic, 15+1 capacity, hammerless, full handle, 4" barrel.

This is my first handgun, and I was stuck between this and a Glock 17. Essentially, they are the same thing. After shooting both, I was more consistant with this model, and it was also more comfortable. Plus, people won't think I bought a gun just because it's what police carry.

Anyway, I know some of you out there have firearms, so let's see them. This particular one will have a few mods by the time I am finished, but it will also have some buddies joining it.

IPB Image
it costs an arm and a leg to go shoot it tho, at over $2 a round, you can go broke very fast...

here are also a few other things in my collection
IPB Image

and my walther p22, you can shoot all day for only $10 with that bad boy. My next gun will be a glock 18, gotta love the full auto hand guns

thumbsup.gif nice gun

i've been thinking of getting the 45 cal. 5" tactical model in green for a couple of months now just can't find the time to save money for it when i get so obsessed over my car and then the "girlfriend fund"

i heard about springfield armory from a friend not too long ago and only started to get into handguns when i turned 21 and was told i could legally get one

size definitely counts ever seen an AMT Hardballer very intimidating just ask the governator

Yeah, the XD line is very good, and expanding. I think next year there will be a .45cal sub compact model. Also, my dad has an XD-9 Service (like the one I got, pictured). He also has the XD-40 sub-compact. Both nice models, but as my first handgun, I figured I'd go with something nice, but also inexpensive and easy to shoot. Hense the 9mm Service, with the 4" barrel, instead of the subcompact 3".

I'm actually gonna go at lunch today and put a few clips through it. Break it in, see how I do with it out of the box. I'll take some pictures maybe. smile.gif.

it is for hobby/sport. i will have a carry permit soon, but that's not why i bought it. i've wanted one for a while, and so i got one. i don't need one for personal protection.

also, as sigmund frued said, a fear of guns suggests retarded sexual and emotional maturity. now, i don't feel that strongly about that outlook, but at the same time, i don't think that people realize that a gun is not as dangerous as people think it is. guns don't kill people, ignorant people with guns kill people. as long as you are safe, and educated, you, and everyone around you, will be fine.

i mean, i guess it's good, for safety, that the media and what not portrays guns in such a negative and scary way to fighten people, but there are many things out there just as dangerous. like a car. wink.gif.

oh, and btw, in TN, i walked into Academy Sports, did some paper work, got a background check, and 20mins later, i was walking out with that handgun. i <3 TN. we do just enough to keep them out of the hands of criminals, but not so much that it inconveniences everyone else.

amen to that, people are usaully like "OMG A GUN SOMEONES GONNA DIE." There not really that bad, and if your responsible enough to carry one, then by all means you should. I carry mine (the p22) with me about 90% of the time and nobody ever even has a clue its there. Its not the fact that your planning on killing someone, its just a piece of mind knowing that if something does happen, your more or less protected. I dont have any 'enemies' or anybody that really hates me (that i know of) but if someone tryed to break in my house, may God help him, especially now that Florida passed the law to use deadly force if you feel threatend. I always wanted to hit someone with one of my katana's, lol. I was playing around in my backyard chopping tree's with em, I could chop a 2 1/2" thick branch clean in half pretty easily. Oh and btw, 6th_celi_vert, im a ninja in my spare time, lol.

oh. i read it without the retarded part. i read that it conveys "sexual and emotional maturity"

like i said... im not afraid of them, not in the least, i just dont see the point unless its for protection...and again, thats just me, i understand that a lot of other people feel differently

edit: it does look nice btw. so does that one in bloodrain's first pic

Congrats on getting a gun.

I lack sexual maturity in a sense i guess. I fear something that can kill me, because I've only seen them in bad hands so far. ie. when a fight gets ready to happen, someone decides to pull a gun(yipee...). They should invent some high-class profiling test to stop guns from getting in retards hands(like John, muahahahaha j/k)

I need to get myself to a shooting range and see if im any good now days. Last time I went shooting was in the woods about 3 years ago. Blew a bird away. well not really. a guy shot it down and then i blew its head off. not that i condone shooting animals but hey i didnt kill it so i didnt feel too bad.

I got to shoot today, during my lunch hour. so, here's how it went.

First day shooting:
3 clips @ 16rd per clip. 17 yards(~50feet):
IPB Image

OK, keep in mind, first time in 15 years that i shot a handgun was tuesday i believe. or monday. 2nd day, was today. Also, first day with my new handgun, so i was kind of excited. i need to work, and keep working, but i could easily pass the carry test based on this shooting. i'll probably take it sometime relatively soon. just to have. not that i'd carry it though.

not bad, but you completly missed the target 11 times, lol. Oh and what I found out to be helpful is dont lock your arms (unless its the desert eagle cuz then the gun will kick back and hit you in the face) lol. Last time I went shooting i had a casing discharge right inbetween my eyes, had a halfmoon shaped cut. Oh and if you ever get serious about shooting, you might wanna get a gun with a longer barrel, makes it more accurate. My p22 is 'fairly' accurate, but I wouldnt put my life on it 2 hit a target. Its got a 3.5" barrel, and I got the 5" conversion also.

well, a couple of those are double-hits. it's hard to see in the pic, but i did miss a few times. but again, first day with my handgun. kinda excited, and 50' isn't exactly a walk in the park. i'll get better though. smile.gif.

look at the 2nd pic on the 1st page, thats a 50. cal desert eagle, i'll do a compairison later so you can see how big it really is. Its not really a handgun, its more of a personal cannon, lol. But ya Myn, you did do pretty decent for still being 'new' to shooting. Whats fun to do is setup a target at about 25 ft. away, and make little red dots in certain places on the body to see if you can hit em. I like close range targets better than long range, simply because handguns arent made to be long range weapons.

Yeah, I vaguly remember how big it was from when my dad had it out of the gun safe when I was a kid. What did stick out in my memory was how heavy it was...

Yeah, the desert eagle is quite a bastard. i've never seen one in person, but, they are intimidating enough in pictures. i never realized they were different cal's though, i thought it was just 50cal. anyway, i'd love to get my hands on one some day, just to shoot. how long is the barrel on that thing blood, and what does the clip hold?

oh, and blood, this is at 50', just because the range literally 2mins from my work is that length. it's indoors, so they kind of want you to put it against the wall, or near the wall, so that the round goes into the collectors, etc. so, until i head to the country to my granddad's land, i'll be working semi-long range.

I read this off of wikipedia's listing for desert eagle-

"A popular misconception with the Desert Eagle is its recoil. Many assume it has an unforgiving kickback due to its high caliber and large size; however the Desert Eagle's recoil itself is not the main problem, since the weapon's weight actually softens the impact of the discharge. The slide on the weapon fires back violently and resumes its original position with authority (the "click" and "clack"), which produces the harsh recoil-like action."

Smith and Wesson, .38+p Airlight revolver, made of aluminum and titanium. Mine is a little dif from the pic, its hammerless, but other than that the same.

Thats mine. I like it cause its the lightest .38 revolver on the markey. 11.2 oz. I like it cause its really light for backpacking. The downside- the kick is pretty harsh, and after 15-20 rounds it starts to get uncomfortable (its rated for +p, but I don't have the guts (or hands) to fire it like that).

ya thats pretty true, but you cant deny the raw power. The barrel is i would guess about 10 or 11 inches, i'll measure it when i get home, cocked back like I had it is about 13 to 14. The gun weighs 5 lbs, and its a 7 round clip. The bullets are about 2 inchs long and they have a little bit larger diameter than a marble. So myn, If you ever come down here towards Miami let me know, we'll go shooting one day. My only advice if you get the chance 2 shoot the DE is lock your arm and have a sturdy stance. My friends gf shot it and almost fell over, hahaha. And scooby, whatcha mean +p? I never heard of that or maybe im just retarded, lol.

Ammunition with extra powder than a regular round. I'm not sure how many extra grains it is, but I know it adds more power.

Wow.. 6GC is scaring me lol

I wonder if its true or just me.. a .38 Glock has more kickback than a .45 Springfield? I always thought that the bigger the number the harder it kicks back lol

Ive shot a couple handguns in a close range before and I suck. Bad!
Maybe Ill go again this summer and "practice some" lol

if u guys ever get a chance, shoot a glock 18. Its probably about as accurate as u can get with a fully auto hand gun, its just fun as hell 2 shoot. And if I was ever getting robbed, just knowing that in 2 seconds u could unload 18 rounds into someone is pretty cool, lol. I think it was 18 rounds, i cant remember, only shot it once.

Glock 18 has a 33rd clip. At least, now they do. It's exactly the same as the Glock 17, except for the fully auto selector on the slide. So, you can actually use the 33rd clip, on the Glock 17. However, I don't know how "legal" that is. Also, Glock 18's are not legal for 'citizens' to own, I don't believe. If I ever find one, I will do my best to unload with it. smile.gif.

Actually, two strips (32*2) plus four reserve = 68. That's 3" framing nails. 2 3/8 = two strips (35*2) plus four reserve = 74. The gun stops firing at four nails. You'll be happy to know that it can cycle at 10 rounds/second. It weighs 8.5 pounds and is only limited by your air hose.

orrrr.... a compressor full of air....

i guess you need electricity for that, but to operate the nailgun of that type it is done by compressed air.

That, my friends, is most certainly an air nailer, not an electric one (though many compressors are electric) though you are forgiven since the fitting for the the hose is on the other side of the magazine and you can't see it.

You're right... The you will never be able to buy a G18 unless you're law enforcement. However, the G17 is just as good after a simple addition/modification:
http://wannabegt4.myftp.org/Glock/index.html

33rd clips are easy to find and can be purchased by just about anybody. They aren't illegal so long as they are the pre-ban magazines.

My collection of modified Glock 17 videos:
http://wannabegt4.myftp.org/Glock/glock1.avi
http://wannabegt4.myftp.org/Glock/autoglock.mpeg

My favorite:
http://wannabegt4.myftp.org/Glock/Glock 298rd.wmv
The intro is wrong on this video... it's obviously just a modified G17.

True G18 slow motion video:
http://wannabegt4.myftp.org/Glock/glock18_cut.mpeg

Fine folks... I'm not the one who enjoy firearms, I was just "involved in" short time of my life. However, anyone of critics here, do you ever fire one shot from AK47 (or SA58)? wink.gif I don't how AR-15 or M4 (I have never touch those), but I can tell you we have trained shoot targets 200 meters (about 220 yards) far with those garbages wink.gif. No problem. This garbage has strinikg distance 1100 meters (cca 1200 yards), harms throughout... Dust, sand, water, nothing is the problem for that... garbage. If you have any more questions, don't hesitate and ask biggrin.gif. mr third world, brush up on your firearms before you talk. garbage. you said it best... "toys." the ak-47 is a third world gun and is used by iraqis and people apparently in the CR. 220 yards is not impressive. i can hit center mass 220 yards with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Anyway, I'm not telling you AK or SA is the best, I'm telling you this garbage is more dangerous than your ar-15, m4 because it's 'dumb proof', not faulty, "cheap" and works all the time (sand is no problem for that gun). You know what I'm talking about? That's (one of many reasons) why all stupid terrorist over the world use them...

Just FYI.: one quaint persistence test was made. 20000 shots was fired from those weapons (when cartridge was empty, just change and go on...), after every 3rd cartridge was whole weapon sank into canister with water for a while (cool it down). No problem... try the same with ar-15 or m4. I have nothing more to tell...

i know you arent from a third world country. if you were you wouldnt be using a computer. i was just giving you a hard time.

the conversation stops here. i am an avid firearm user as where you are mild to low training. i have shot all of the above and you have not. MOST guns could be ran through sand, etc and still operate. ive shot multiple AKs where they they have a failures in mutiple regions related to the gun (extract, eject, feed). its why the terrorists are losing. if aks were as good as you hype them to be they would be in the hands of all the american soliders and law enforcement around the world. the ak 47 is not used in the us mil and very very limited in law enforcement.

i highly suggest trying out some more guns before you say the ak-47 is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

fyi: i've shot ak-47, akm, ak-74, and ak-101. they ALL suck.

as far as reliability goes your definatly right, the ak is 'bullet proof' for lack of better words, only other weapon thats as reliable that I can think of are glocks. AK's are not bad weapons at ALL, there just not my style, if i was in a situation where I had 2 worry about my gun jamming, I would choose the AK, if I was in a situation where if I missed my shot, something bad would happen, I'd go M4 hands down.

on the left is a holster, in the middle is a speed loader, and on the right is a clip holster. they are aight, but i'll probably never use them. it's just nice to get all that w/ the gun.

bufferdan, which model is that? 40 or 9mm?

edit: btw bloodrain, that is an XD as well, and mine came with all those things.

I got the 9mm...also just got a pierce magazine extension lip cause the sub-compact is pretty short handled with the 10r mag in it. Feels nice now.

Plan on buying a Taurus millenium pro .45 next...bi-toned.

Also whats the deal with the crayons? Do alot of people do that? Never seen it..does it stay on good?

For some reason taking pics of the gun and the pen through the trigger bothers me...i dont know why...ahahha. Why does everyone have to do that!!

and i used to have those 7th gen wheels, powdercoated black...not those exact ones, but yeah.

and, the pen through the trigger, i didn't understand it either, but, it keeps the gun sitting up at an angle, instead of laying funny on the desk. bc the slide is much heavier than the grip, it'll sit funny. that's just to brace it up.

and dan, check out: XDtalk. Awesome site. and yeah, a lotta poeple do the crayon, but some use model paint.
