Most of u have read and responded to this topic and have givvin some good insight. Well I finally got a reply from the editors at modified mag. Here is the reply they sent. If you would like to see more recognition for the 6gc simply submit ur pics to them. I know I will. Here it is judge for yourself. Eddie, WE havent had ANY 6th gen Celica submissions and frankly, I rarely come across them at shows. When I do they simply arent built to where they can be featured. Show me some Celicas that are feature worthy and I just may put them in the mag. Thanks, Peter Tarach Editor-In-Chief Modified Magazine www.modified.com Respond -------------------- From Japan to Texas my st202 follows me.

I believe there are many cars that worths it. Just look at local featured rides... Only what I'm afraid of is not much people are able to appreciate that... let me give one simple example - my car:
I have put design and performance of my car forward a lot. I have played as "new Toyota designer" and used only Toyota genuine parts (or parts of parts ![]() ![]() ![]() For more info just hit my signature picture to see whole "body evolution topic"... and that is just bodywork... not talking about rest of mods I have made... but... frankly... who cares? Who but real Celica enthusiast? ...and that's the point (IMHO). -------------------- No more replicas... This is evolution... This is SS-four :)

Funny you mention "Modified" as I actually have the new issue sitting right here. After the fix to the front with the shaving tweaks we're doing, my wife and I are planning on putting a submission in actually. I'll simply explain to Modified in the submission that the car isn't build or needing to be 400+ WHP, that it's an all around package deal. I personally feel with the clean looks of the SSIII ground effects, lack of a wing, lack of aftermarket wacky fenders or noses like most of these magazine cars have, that it'll stand a chance.
If not, then I'll swap a Street Brawler and Standalone in and finish the deal that way. ![]() -------------------- |

where's that chick that bought doGGy's? that thing is beautiful, but nevermind, not magazine worthy since she didn't build/convert it.

Well I wish u the best of luck man. I actually sent mine in. Maybe if enough people with 6gcs submitt more than we could actually get recoginzed for a change. Best of luck! I have doubts on ours getting in due to the fact that it's really a basic 3S-GTE swap that's been set up to work very well (250/260 WHP/WTQ is pretty good IMO on the CT26 with what we've got done). Most mags like to see over the top power, over the top bodywork, ect. I'm all for the power, but can you really utilize 350+ in a Celica, even if you did put the LSD in it? I think what most of us here have with our swaps and such is a near perfect balance of a sporty street car that is reliable, looks great, ect. Before I wrecked it I would CONSTANTLY get questions and compliments on the car. They're just not common, so they're not popular, so magazines discount them. Throw a 2JZ in and see what happens though. ![]() -------------------- |

Thats wuts messed up. These mags wanna emulate cars that a real preson couldnt afford if they tried. We see all the time and money it takes to get a car in a respect zone. Iv seen many people on here build some powerful Celi in less the time it takes the featurettes to build theirs. AND their Celicas are still running or still in their families.
I still stand by my word and say we need more recoginiton in the tuner scene and if not that than atleast the aftermarket departement instead of just CUSCO, TRD and some what HKS. -------------------- From Japan to Texas my st202 follows me.

Who but real Celica enthusiast? ...and that's the point (IMHO). I agree with you in part - people here can appreciate what you have done but outside the 6gc scene it might not be perceived as impressive. Your car would make a great story for our frontpage (featured ride) but perhaps not an article for modifiedmag. However, where I disagree with you is that I would say that many of the past featured rides on 6gc.net would make great modifiedmag articles. Commer's yellow celica is a prime example but there are many other examples (most, I would say). -------------------- Davey
