Home Depot Universal mesh Grill. I bought two of them for $10 each and welded them together.

Ive had this on for about 2 months now and i used epoxy glue to stick it together to the bumper. On two of the brackets it no longer attached. Anybody got any suggestion in how to make the gril stick to the bumper. It only weighs 3 pounds. I was looking at san0 and i like that one too. where can i get one like that??

The covers don't go on properly when there's zip ties behind - need to shave and sand off bits of the pillar cover to do achieve a good fit.

I've now added the front plastic trim pieces. These were sprayed chrome with Plasticote, I did try to coat in the lacquer but this dulled the finish so resprayed again. At certain angles it is bright silver, but other times it looks black, the reflection on the fron lip make it look like 'extended fangs'. A good tip when fitting these pieces is to with both hands open and push in from the rigt of the pillar, then rotate it clockwise so it clicks into place. - You'll know what I mean when you try it. I grip tied only the top of the mesh to the pillars as when you stand, they won't be visible.

so afer having the grill for about 2 months. It finally decided to fall off. One question for you san0 what exactly does this mean.
The covers don't go on properly when there's zip ties behind - need to shave and sand off bits of the pillar cover to do achieve a good fit.

I still have some more of the same gril and i really like the way it looks. I plan on putting on the 94-95 oem fog lights like you have. As for now i might just keep the front look of the bumper open. Although if you can see when i my car painted a while ago. Everything on the inside of the bumper was painted red, including the radiator.

Should i go ahead and paint everything black, to get the look it had before i got it painted.

What this was referring to is that some Celicas have the option for having some plastic mouldings to cover up the pillars in the pre-facelift bumpers.

Basically if you did grip tie to the bare pillar, and tried to cover the pillar up with the trim piece, well you can't as the ties will be in the way.

Just a thought....have any of you guys/gals try using zip ties and paint the ties your car color so it would blend into the posts?
Sorry I don't have a pic available, I'll try to post mine up though.

I did this with my SS-III grill b/c the attachment holes in my reinforcement bar didn't line up with the grill.
You can't tell that much that it's attached with zip ties.

Dude that's simply not true - not trying to be a jerk but I did it and so did Spolski without modification

Hell - look at the center cover in the pic above - you can see it's already cut out top and bottme - zipties go there. It's really very simple and straight forward

LOLLLL
I'm happy you like it, but you must wait at least this summer, maybe after.
In the meanwhile see this, 2nd part of modifications (I'm only the designer, not the man who work phisically on the bumper, so these are my instructions to that man),
I don't think you can read in italian but maybe sometimes a pic is better of thousands words.

P.S. I promise to translate it in english if could be useful to someone

Heres mine

what are those blue squares behind the grill? they look like some sort of lights.

QUOTE (san0 @ Dec 21, 2008 - 11:56 AM) *

how did you get the grill behind the pillars? do you have to remove those black plastic pieces below the bumper? i couldt figure it out so i just put it on the front of them. but i dont have any pics cause it got all mangled when i hit a snow bank lol tongue.gif

Actually the ss-III teeth are not painted Martin, they are covers. Although you can paint them for any bumper.

Where would someone go about getting the SS-III grille? I've searched online and can't seem to find it anywhere.

Just undo the bolts of the 'under engine covers' - they are attached to the bumper. Then slide in the mesh behind the pillars in the slight gap created by loosening off the bolts of the 'under cover'.

could someone tell me how to fix the grill to the bumper. Is it done just with ty-wraps? Or has it been done a bit more tediously?
