Check out ebay. 7th gen SS will work with our cars. Or you can go for the TRD quickshifter. I recommend the quickshifter. I know its a lot more than the ss kit from ebay, but well worth it. Well I don't have it yet, but I will soon.

When I ordered mine it came with the knob. It was like 180 total, but so worth it.

panda and hurley, where did u get ur shifters from? and are they thenewer versions? sry mike, i wouldnt kno if they do. but with me, i would rather spend more money once the right way, with knowing that the item is made for our vehicle then something is not and guesstimating with it.

TRD gives you the least reduction out of all SKs for our cars
TWM gives you the greatest reduction. TRD = ~40% shorter throw TWM = ~60% shorter throw I'm a huge fan of the TWM...cheaper + better function. |

I agree with Manny 100%. there is a massive difference between the two. the 7th gen shifter is very notchy, but some people like it like that. I've never had a stock shifter for comparisson to that but when comparing the 7th gen and the TRD shifters the TRD wins in quality and smoothness hands down. although, that's why it's much more expensive. -------------------- |

I installed my 7th gen ebay shortshifter today, and I have to say I definitely believe that the TRD ones are much smoother. I noticed that with the new SS, it's pretty much exactly like stock except definitely a way shorter throw. It's pretty stiff though, which is one of the things I liked, but then again I've never had anything shift smoother than stock haha. So basically I agree too, except it's not really harder than stock. ![]() |

Well, I have a 6th ge. TWM short shifter and it was very stiff and felt like there were rocks while shifting but i only used WD-40 to lube the ball joints (which you shouldn't do) and no grease, so thanks to Valo666, he advised that i went to get some white lithium grease from partsource, its a big spray canister with the small nose extention piece (the red straw) and sprayed it in the ball joints and its still a bit hard once in awhile when shifting into 1st gear and reverse, however the rest of the shifting into all other gears are beautifully smooth. So that's my 2 cents
P.S. If you were to purchse the TRD quick shift kit, since it's a complete assembly could you simply cut the stick down to make it shorter and custom groove it back so you can put back on ur OEM knob or get an aftermarket knob with those screw tightning screws? i don't see anything wrong with that. It shouldn't affect the shifts. This post has been edited by _mikeE: Feb 7, 2008 - 1:46 AM |
