Just thought i'd post this incase any ST owners wanted an idea of how to run their wiring. I like my car clean so this install took ~ 2.5 hrs, that, and the fact im not very mechanically inclined.
RELAY + GROUND *Mounted near centre firewall, there was a screw hole there. I found a screw that fit from my tool box and mounted the relay.* ![]() ![]() WIRING TO R HEADLIGHT +WIRING TO BATTERY *Ran the wiring to the positive battery terminal under the air filter box, and up the positive sheath. Unscrewed the positive lead that goes to the engine, inserted my positive wire and rescrewed the bolt. Wiring to R headlight went between the air box and the body. Didnt even have to use zip ties here. Also this i where i plugged in the wire that had to goto your old light wiring. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BALLAST R Look carefully below my battery, under coolant line. Mounted with double sided tape (first i cleaned both surfaces with alcohol) and zip tied it incase the tape ever comes loose. ![]() WIRING TO L HEADLIGHT This wiring followed the tubes that run along the firewall all the way up to near the headlight ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() BALLAST L Easiest mount by far. Double sided tape + zip ties to mount to body part right under relay box. ![]() FINAL PRODUCT + NOTES In total i used about 25 zip ties to hold the wiring to places car. Dont be afraid to use too many, just make sure you snip the ends off after and rotate the ties so you cant see the stopper (i know, im obsessive compulsize). Also, when inserting the bulbs there is only ONE correct way to put them in, so double check you are inserting them right the first time. I had to re-insert a few times and im sure it took a bit of life off my bulbs! Double check your wiring, let loose your clutch (keep e-brake on) and take a look. This is with high beams on so i can see the contrast! Hope this tutorial-ish is useful for someone. ![]() ***Picture taken before i secured my wires, just to test lighting. My wires do NOT run over the battery like the picture would imply*** NIGHT SHOTS Color looks nice eh? ![]() ![]() ![]() This post has been edited by phonex98: Oct 22, 2006 - 9:33 PM -------------------- ----- '94 ST hatch --- Yellow ----- |
