I realized during the ten minutes that she was the car behind me that the GT4 spoiler blocks your view of the driver behind you's face. Le frown D:

Julian - great pick-up! I have a set sitting in my storage room waiting for new summer tires. Can't wait to see yours on your Celica.

Yesterday, I winterized the windows a bit - Rain-X for both the interior and exterior to prevent fogging and what not.

Today, I drove to work enjoying the sound of my 6gc.

Haha I cant wait to see them either! They would've been on by now if my jack didn't get stolen kindasad.gif

Bought some electrical supplies for the swap. Basically gonna make my own harness so I'll have reverse lights and clutch safety start biggrin.gif

Also started on some of the basic wiring getting stuff ready. Liquid tape, electric tape, and then liquid tape to cover it so it doesn't peel; repeat. Bud of mine was making fun of me, but I'm gonna sure it lasts.

Today I sold my 3 post steering wheel on my car, sad to see it go, but I'll most likely get something better once the wheels are paid off and I finish everything else I need to do.

Today i looked at my car in the wash bay smile.gif
Arsaces
Car died on me, was driving over some train tracks (on my way for a tire rotation, I would do it myself but the shop I use wasn't going to charge me anything so I figured what the hell). Car jumped to 2000 rpm, sputtered a bit, I sat there wondering what the heck could be wrong, so I gave it a bit of gas, it stuck at 2000 rpm and died. I coasted into the nearest parking lot, checked my fluids and everything seemed fine. Tried to crank it up, everything was cranking OK, but the car wouldn't start. Pulled a sparkplug wire to see if there was anything alarming waiting, but that was clear. Went to put the wire back on and noticed that it would not snap back onto the plug. I looked into the plug wire and noticed the screw-on tip of the plug was stuck in the wire. Had the GF walk the kids back to the house while I sat there and tried to get the end of the plug out. Finally got it out, but damaged the threads (At the time I had no idea that this was the screw on type). Go up to the nearest auto-zone with my plugs and bought replacements, go back to the car and install them. Crank up the car and get the same thing, will turn over and not fire. There was an auto repair place right across the street from where I broke down, so I get some of the guys to help me push the car over into the shop. I got a call shortly after telling me that my distributor was shot, this is the OEM distributor which has lasted for 174k, so I told them to go ahead and replace it (only because the diagnostic fee I would have been charged was the same as the installation fee, so I was only looking at parts at this point). I am now waiting to hear word that I can go pick my car back up. They will be setting the timing back to where I had it and hopefully I will be back on the road soon. Now I will need to replace my plug wires within a month in order to have my warranty honored for the distributor. Today has not been a nice day so far.

Today I paid some people to roll the rear fenders and replace the rear calipers on the Celica because I'm too lazy to do it myself.

Got my advanced roadside kit ready in case the cellie wants to give me trouble for the 446 mile drive to SC tomorrow.

Hopefully all goes well, and all the prep I've done for this trip was worth while.

Once I get there, then I dig into a 2006 Sebring and try to fix its many problems.

The celica made the trip..

Feel pretty proud of it.

Maybe I can stop doubting it now. Not sure why but this red GT just have never felt right or just going to die one day. If it can run 7 hours straight, I'd say nothing immediate is coming. There is always the drive home!

Just a little longer..couple months.

met up with Rusty after a long time, good to see you mate!!!

Was great to catch up with you again, been too long.
Updated my discoloured side markers with some late model Corolla ones, didn't need to steal my brothers ones in the end laugh.gif

it still looks awesome people

Bonzai check the parts section in the big sticky sticky, and the 'SS suspension parts' in the suspension sticky. (ironic you've posted in both of those threads)

Trying to figure out why the car won't idle down. Not a vacuum leak as I can place my hand over the throttle body and it chokes the engine, that and I've done multiple smoke tests and sprayed carb cleaner to reaffirm. Must be something electronic, but whatever it is it doesn't throw a code. Did notice on the adjustment plate on the IACV I can turn it to raise idle, but turning it the other way does nothing opposed to lowering idle like it's supposed to. The valve opens and closes when hooked up directly to the battery, so I'm at quite a loss. Idles at about 1,200 now. A/C on drops it to 1,000. A/C on with the idle up valve unplugged makes it drop to around 700. Guess it isn't too big a deal, but I'm OCD and this bothers me severely. Especially since it didn't do this before removing all the gunk from the intake manifold, throttle body, and IACV.
Special_Edy
The timing advance? That would cause it to idle faster.

Try unplugging the efi fuse or battery to clear the ECU, it may solve the problem.
Box
Didn't touch anything on timing. Have tried leaving the battery unplugged and nothing. Will try the ECU reset procedure under the information section of the site tomorrow. It's as if the ECU is telling the IACV to stay open for whatever reason. All else fails I can directly wire a relay and potentiometer between the IACV and the battery, then I can set the idle speed manually. tongue.gif
celica74
Olhm the iac. Tap on it a little see if it drops
Box
I tested the ohms and it was in spec. It opens and closes as it should when connected to a battery. About to do a hard ECU reset and take it from there.
SwissFerdi
Barring any mechanical change, that should at least reset your idle.
Box
Well, good results I suppose. After doing the ECU reset it dropped to around 1,000. Gave it throttle and it dropped to 775. Radiator fans had kicked on and the idle floated around 850-900 bouncing up and down after the fans turned off. Gave it throttle again and it dropped back down to 775 where it stayed for the next 10 minutes. Turned it off, guess we'll see next time I drive. I noticed when the idle was up I could hear a whistling from the area of the IACV. Which doesn't make sense. I had taken it apart and cleaned it, and used a new gasket. Tests out through ohm rating and connecting it to a battery and opens and closes as it should. So who knows.
